Introduction

I am currently a 6th year PhD student at Princeton University in the Department of Politics. I graduated from Harvard College in May 2012 with an honors degree in Government with the distinction, “Magna cum laude” (and Phi Beta Kappa).

My research interests include Comparative Politics, Latin American Politics (especially Argentina, Chile and Brazil), presidential power and hyperpresidentialism, development politics, market reforms in developing countries, state capacity and the strength of state institutions, party systems, etc. My dissertation examines the factors that allow presidents to concentrate power at the expense of institutions of horizontal accountability such as congress and the judiciary.
